Alabaster, Are You Sure about This?

The children found themselves in a very warm and welcoming room. Bookshelves lined the walls, filled to the rim with volumes from times past and present. There was also a warm fire steadily burning behind a long wooden desk and a tall leather chair. In this chair sat Alabaster.

Alabaster, eyes gleaming, hands intertwined with one another resting on the desk, leaned forward. He beckoned the children with a nod to have a seat. Placed before the children were three large comfortable chairs, each facing toward Alabaster. As each child sat in their chair, they realized that they were soft and warm. In fact, as they sat down, the children felt more relaxed and ready to hear what Alabaster had to say to them.

Looking intently at the kids, he began, “The Great Darkness is attempting to cover all our world in darkness. He has been hard at work corrupting the Creator’s moral order and confusing mankind. Now, since he has been somewhat successful, he is transforming people and even spiritual beings into dark servants forced to do his bidding. These creatures then pollute and poison the earth causing all things to die. We, the Light Covenant, are the world’s last and best defense to stop the Great Darkness and his servants while bringing renewal to the land.

Letting his words sink in, he continued, “approximately two thousand years ago after the Son of the Creator had returned from earth to His heavenly throne, seven towers were erected as beacons of hope. One tower was placed on each of the seven continents. Each tower housed twelve children aged twelve to fifteen who possessed creative gifts given to them by the Creator. These towers were places of training to prepare the children so that they would be able to help in holding back the darkness, restoring what has been lost, and ultimately serving alongside the Son of the Creator in the final battle to come.

“So, that’s why we’re here,” said Conner.

“Yes, although we do not know when the final battle will take place, you most likely will not be involved in that.”

“And there are six more towers like this around the world with other painters like us, “asked Sarai.

“In total, there used to be seven towers, but during WWII the tower in Antarctica fell and recently, the tower in Australia also fell into darkness.

“So, do the other towers also have painters like us?” asked Sarai.

“No, the other towers do not have painters like yourselves. They have musicians, singers, illustrators, writers, and sculptors. Each one of these creatives embodies a different power and ability to fight against the Great Darkness and restore what he and his minions have destroyed.”

“So, that leaves just five,” exclaimed Maria.

“Unfortunately, yes, but plans are in place to take back the Australian tower and Creator willing, keep back the darkness in the remaining five towers.

“What about Antarctica?”

“That is a question for another time. Children, because of the urgency of why I have called you into my office, that is all I can share at this time.
